Redesign before development

Website Redesign for Malaysian Organisations

Website redesign replaces the structure, journeys and visual system of an existing site. We rebuild the information architecture, templates and WordPress implementation while protecting useful content, URLs and search equity.

Website redesign with search protection

A redesign changes more than appearance. It can alter URLs, content relationships, templates and search visibility. We record the current site, map affected URLs and set a baseline before the first wireframe.

Design, development, migration and launch checks are planned together, so the replacement can be measured against the site it is replacing.

01

Which type of website change is needed?

Define the work

  • 01

Refresh: update colour, typography and imagery

  • 02

Redesign: replace architecture, templates and design system

  • 03

CMS migration: move from another system

  • 04

WordPress rebuild: replace the theme or builder

The distinction determines the cost, migration controls and risk. We establish the correct scope before design begins.

02

Choose the right type of change

When a redesign or revamp is justified

  • Users cannot find important services

Navigation follows the organisation chart rather than user intent.

  • High-value templates fail Core Web Vitals

Performance problems are structural rather than isolated defects.

  • Current build is holding the site back

Dependencies, security exposure and editing constraints make repair uneconomical.

  • Search visibility must survive the rebuild

Valuable URLs, content and inbound links need protection before anything moves.

03

Before, during and after launch

Search protection during a website redesign

  • Pre-redesign audit

Search Console evidence, rankings, indexed URLs, inbound links and a complete redirect map.

  • Controlled launch

Tested redirects, search directives, DNS, analytics and rollback controls before traffic reaches the new website.

  • Thirty-day monitoring

Indexation, redirects, crawl behaviour and Core Web Vitals checked against the recorded baseline.

“Julian and the team at Ulement are exceptionally knowledgeable website developers. They provided outstanding client support, expert suggestions, and a smooth process from start to finish. Highly recommended!”

Questions about redesigning a website

Website redesign FAQs

Will our rankings drop during the redesign?

Short-term fluctuation is possible. The objective is to prevent avoidable sustained loss through baseline capture, URL mapping, content reconciliation and post-launch monitoring.

Do you redesign websites you did not build?

No. We only take on a redesign when we are also responsible for its implementation. The audit connects structural, content, search and technical decisions. If another team implements only part of it, the intended result can be lost.

Is a website revamp different from a website redesign?

The terms are often used interchangeably. We use revamp for substantial visual and content improvements where the structure can remain. Redesign applies when the information architecture, user journeys, templates or technical build also need replacement.

We need to change CMS as well. Does that change the scope?

Yes. A CMS change requires CMS migration and migration SEO protection alongside design and development.
